A Vancouver Destination Wedding
Our wedding season definitely ended on a high when we took the most AMAZING (and first ever) trip out to Vancouver for the wedding of James and Rosie. They’ve only been engaged 5 years but they sure did it in style!!
We arrived a few days earlier (y’know… jet lag and all that jazz…) and decided to make the most of the glorious sunshine with a pre-wedding shoot at Stanley Park. Perched at the edge of downtown Vancouver, beautiful landscaped gardens are surrounded by a cycle path along the sea wall and woodland areas. One of my favourite spots was Beaver Lake, although sadly we didn’t see any actual beavers!
The very intimate wedding of around 20 guests took place on a terrace of the luxurious high rise Shanri La hotel where they had been staying. The ceremony was so relaxed with lots of audience participation involved - the office workers in the adjacent tower blocks took a break from their computers to stand at the windows and see what all the noise was about!
Rosie and Jim (as they are affectionately known!) were a great example of doing things THEIR way and the day really reflected them and their interests. Instead of following the traditional wedding “template” they did a quick first dance (James is not much of a fan of dancing!!) and cake cutting before heading inside for the wedding breakfast. After their speeches there was a round of Cards Against Humanity (google it if you don’t know… they are not horrible people, honest!!) which they had personalised for them, the card being “The secret to a happy marriage is…” followed by many unsavoury responses from their guests! A wine tasting session to follow was the perfect end to fabulously different wedding.
Thanks again Rosie and James for the amazing trip! xxx
